Severe weather alerts issued for Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia
A major Atlantic weather system is bringing severe storms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds across Southern Europe. In Italy, an orange alert has been issued for several regions, including Liguria, where rainfall could reach 200mm in some areas. In Genoa, all schools have been closed due to the extreme weather conditions. Other Italian regions, including Piedmont, Lombardy, and Tuscany, are also facing significant risks of flooding and intense thunderstorms.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federal Administration of Civil Protection (FUCZ) has warned of potential flooding, landslides, and rapid rises in river levels, particularly in the Herzegovina region. Heavy rainfall is expected to hit southern areas, with some locations potentially receiving up to 120 liters per square meter over 48 hours. High-risk areas include Mostar, Konjic, and Trebinje.
Croatia is also under weather warnings, specifically for the Zadar county and northern Dalmatia. Coastal areas are expected to experience strong winds with gusts reaching 65 to 75 km/h, and orange alerts have been issued for maritime conditions. In Slovenia, ARSO has issued warnings for storms and heavy rainfall.
