FC Bayern Munich kicks off pre‑season training under Vincent Kompany
One day after the World Cup final, FC Bayern Munich began its pre‑season preparations at the Säbener Straße training centre. Coach Vincent Kompany started with a reduced squad that included Tom Bischof, Sven Ulreich and other returning players while many stars remained on holiday or recovering from injuries.
The initial agenda featured medical examinations at the Barmherzige Brüder clinic in Nymphenburg followed by performance tests at the club’s training complex. A short training session was held in the afternoon and a behind‑closed test match against SV Wehen Wiesbaden was scheduled for the weekend.
The team will travel to a training camp at the Tegernsee later in the week and then join the club’s summer tour in South Korea and Hong Kong in early August. The first competitive fixture is the Audi Supercup on 22 August against Borussia Dortmund. Ongoing rehabilitation work continues for injured players such as Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry, while loan‑returnees João Palhinha, Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza seek new clubs.
