Arsenal signs Greek winger Christos Tzolis for €40 million

Arsenal announced the signing of 24‑year‑old Greek international Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge on a five‑year contract. The transfer fee is reported at roughly €40 million (£34 million), making him the most expensive Greek player ever and the highest fee paid by Club Brugge. Tzolis arrives as a direct replacement for Leandro Trossard, who moved to Besiktas, and will wear the number 17 shirt.

During his two seasons at Brugge, Tzolis made 108 appearances, scoring 43 goals and providing 45 assists, and helped the Belgian side win the league, the cup and back‑to‑back Player‑of‑the‑Season awards. Sporting director Andrea Berta said, “Christos has produced outstanding numbers in terms of goals and assists over the last three seasons, and he’ll raise the technical level of our squad, bringing positive energy, enthusiasm and a strong mentality.” The winger is praised for his versatility, able to play across the front line, his two‑footed finishing and his ability to create chances, having led the Belgian league in created chances (135) last season.

The signing marks Arsenal’s third permanent summer acquisition, following a missed bid for Morgan Rogers, and the club is also linked with other targets, but Tzolis is expected to feature prominently on the left flank from the start of the new campaign.
