Arsenal 2026 transfers – Tzolis signed, Trossard out

Entities: Club Brugge · Christos Tzolis · Arsenal Football Club · Mikel Arteta · Vasilis Mittas

Overview

Leandro Trossard’s move to Beşiktaş was completed on 16 July 2026, ending his spell at Arsenal. A few days later the club secured Greek winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, finalising a €40 million (£34 million) deal on 20 July. The 24‑year‑old signed a five‑year contract, took the number 17 shirt and became the most expensive Greek player ever as well as Brugge’s record sale.

Tzolis arrived after a title‑winning 2025‑26 season with Brugge, where he logged 22 goals and 29 assists in 52 games. Sporting director Andrea Berta praised his two‑footed finishing, versatility and the 135 created chances he topped the Belgian league with last season. He is expected to feature prominently on the left flank alongside new signing Piero Hincapié, while Arsenal monitor centre‑back William Saliba’s fitness and continue scouting.

On 24 July Tzolis made his unofficial debut in a behind‑closed‑doors pre‑season friendly against MK Dons, providing an early assist in a 3‑0 win. PAOK academy technical director Vasilis Mittas called him a perfect fit for Arsenal’s style, citing his pace and goal‑scoring instinct. Arsenal’s pre‑season schedule now includes matches versus Girona, Real Betis, Borussia Dortmund and Como.

Six days later manager Mikel Arteta praised the €40 million signing, saying the 24‑year‑old will quickly win over fans and help fill the void left by Trossard. Arteta highlighted Tzolis’ talent and personality as a strong addition as the Gunners continue to invest in young attacking talent for the upcoming campaign.
