Arsenal FC to cut up to 60 jobs in cost-cutting drive

Arsenal FC is planning to lay off up to 60 employees as part of a cost-cutting initiative aimed at improving financial sustainability. The decision was communicated to staff by CEO Richard Garlick following an operational audit conducted by the management consultancy Boston Consulting Group.

The proposed redundancies will primarily target administrative and organizational departments. The club confirmed that the football department, including both men’s and women’s first teams and the Hale End academy, will be exempt from the cuts. Additionally, the Arsenal Foundation, community-focused roles, and the security department will not be affected.

Despite recent on-field success, including winning the Premier League title, the club has faced seven consecutive years of financial losses. While Arsenal has reported record revenues, rising operating costs and significant wage expenditures continue to impact its bottom line. This move comes shortly after manager Mikel Arteta signed a new four-year contract extension.
