Art commemorations honor painter Ferenc Jánossy and poet György Faludy

In Balassagyarmat, an exhibition titled ‘Jánossy 100 – The Heritage’ is being held at the Jánossy Gallery to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of painter Ferenc Jánossy. The collection features works donated by descendants and private collectors, including pieces never before exhibited publicly. The exhibition runs from September 12 to November 15.

Jánossy, known as ‘Firinc’ in the Hungarian avant-garde scene, was a significant figure whose life included emigration to Switzerland following the 1956 revolution. His artistic style evolved from non-figurative, surrealist compositions to expressive, colorful figurative works.

Separately, a non-traditional gallery opening for ‘drMáriás’ took place in Budapest, featuring guest Alex Faludy, the grandson of the renowned Hungarian poet György Faludy. The event included the unveiling of a new painting titled ‘György Faludy in Salvador Dalí’s Studio,’ which depicts the poet within the surrealist world of Dalí and Paul Éluard.
