Art exhibitions highlight women's health and social integration

Two distinct exhibitions are highlighting social and medical issues through visual and interactive media.

In Cuenca, Spain, the Princesa Zaida room at the Museo de Cuenca is hosting ‘Arte a dos manos: Mujeres y salud mental’. This collaborative project brings together 26 professional artists and 26 individuals diagnosed with mental health issues. The initiative, supported by the Asociación de Salud Mental VIVIR and the Fundación Sociosanitaria de Castilla-La Mancha, aims to use art as a tool for social integration and to dismantle the stigmas surrounding women's mental health. The exhibition runs from September 23 to October 18.

In Andorra, the Institut Andorrà de les Dones has inaugurated ‘Ginòpia Mèdica: la ceguesa de la medicina davant la salut de les dones’. Located in the vestibule of the Comú d’Escaldes-Engordany, the exhibition explores how the male body has historically been treated as the universal standard in medical research, often leading to diagnostic errors or inadequate treatments for women. Created by Helena Casadevall Adroher and the Associació Igualitàrium, the display uses 12 visual elements to address topics such as androcentrism in health and gynecological violence. The exhibition is open until October 9.
