Art exhibitions in Italy feature Artemisia Gentileschi and Frida Kahlo
Major art exhibitions are currently opening across Italy, highlighting significant female artists and cultural figures. In Florence, the Museo degli Innocenti is hosting an exhibition of over 50 works by Artemisia Gentileschi. The display explores her period in Tuscany, where she worked as a court painter and became the first woman admitted to the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno.
In Milan, the exhibition ‘Attraverso i miei occhi. Frida Kahlo e la costruzione del mito’ examines the life of Frida Kahlo through more than 70 photographs by renowned 20th-century masters such as Nickolas Muray and Edward Weston. The collection aims to look beyond the commercialized image of the artist to explore her physical suffering and creative resilience. Other notable exhibitions in Italy include works by Pier Paolo Pasolini and contemporary art projects in Milan.
