Art exhibitions showcase personal histories in Brazil

Two art exhibitions are currently being held in Brazil, showcasing the personal journeys and techniques of local artists.

In Taquara, 84-year-old artist Karola Behet Elshout is presenting ‘Retrospectiva’ at Casa Vidal. The exhibition, which runs until August 31, explores her life trajectory from her origins in Germany to her permanent residence in Brazil. Her work focuses on transforming memories and emotions into visual images, a practice she began after discovering porcelain painting.

In Mato Grosso do Sul, artist Adriana de Paula Trindade, also known as ‘Mami’, is hosting the ‘Estradas’ exhibition at the Espaço Cultural do Tribunal de Contas de Mato Grosso do Sul (TCE-MS). Running through August 31, the collection uses mixed media, including acrylic paint, gold leaf, and recycled truck tarpaulins as canvas. The works reflect on life's changes, relationships, and personal experiences, incorporating elements of popular culture and poetry.
