Art exhibitions in Brazil

Various art exhibitions are being held across Brazil, highlighting diverse personal and cultural themes.

Initial exhibitions in Taquara and Mato Grosso do Sul focus on individual life trajectories. Karola Behet Elshout presents ‘Retrospectiva’ at Casa Vidal, exploring her journey from Germany to Brazil through porcelain painting. Simultaneously, Adriana de Paula Trindade, known as ‘Mami’, hosts ‘Estradas’ in Mato Grosso do Sul, utilizing mixed media such as gold leaf and recycled truck tarpaulins to reflect on personal experiences and relationships.

Subsequent openings expand the scope to include indigenous spirituality and color theory. In Fortaleza, Roberto Galvão’s exhibition ‘UNA’ at the Museu da Cultura Cearense utilizes black as a creative matrix, with the title referencing the Nheengatu word for black. In Recife, the ‘KAMYTÁ’ exhibition at Christal Galeria features works by indigenous artists Olinda Tupinambá and Ziel Karapotó. This collection, resulting from a residency in the Costa dos Corais Environmental Protection Area, uses ritual paintings and photo-performances to address ancestral memory, territory, and the climate emergency.
