Artemis II crew to receive Congressional Space Medal of Honor

President Trump is scheduled to award the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to the crew of NASA’s Artemis II mission on August 28 in Houston. The ceremony will take place at Joint Reserve Base Ellington.

The award recognizes NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, as well as Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen. The crew completed a historic 10-day mission around the moon, marking the first human lunar circumlunar travel in over half a century, concluding with a safe splashdown on April 10.

Only 30 astronauts have received the medal to date, a distinction previously held by figures such as Neil Armstrong and John Glenn. The medal is presented by the president following recommendations from the NASA administrator to honor those who have made exceptional contributions to the welfare of the nation and mankind.
