Artificial intelligence advances in regulation, data utility, and weather forecasting
Developments in artificial intelligence span regulatory compliance, data accessibility, and specialized forecasting. Under the EU AI Act, specifically Article 50, new transparency obligations regarding AI-generated content have been in effect since August 2, 2026. Content creators are not always required to label AI usage, provided the material is subject to human editorial review and published under editorial responsibility.
In the realm of practical data utility, a study of 90 business websites in the Wallonia and Greater Region revealed significant gaps in AI readiness. While most sites allow AI robots to access their data, many lack structured, machine-readable information such as addresses, phone numbers, or usable business hours, hindering the effectiveness of AI assistants.
On the technical front, Google DeepMind and Google Research have launched WeatherNext 3, a global AI meteorological model. Unlike traditional numerical weather prediction models, WeatherNext 3 integrates real-time satellite observations directly into the AI model to provide faster, high-resolution, and more localized hourly forecasts.
