Artificial intelligence drives business and labor shifts in Latin America
Artificial intelligence is driving significant shifts in business operations and labor markets across Latin America. In Peru, a study by the Peruvian Chamber of Electronic Commerce (Capece) reveals that 80% of companies have adopted AI tools, though only 13% have reached an advanced level of integration. A primary obstacle to deeper adoption is data fragmentation across disconnected systems like ERP and CRM platforms.
In Colombia, Asocapitales has released a technical report titled ‘Artificial Intelligence, Adaptability, and Labor Reconversion’ to map how technology will transform the labor markets of 32 capital cities. The report identifies ten occupational groups most exposed to AI-driven task changes, noting that while some roles face high exposure, this does not necessarily imply total job disappearance. Instead, the focus is on how tasks can be complemented by technology.
On the security front, Huawei is promoting an ‘AI against AI’ strategy at the Andicom 2026 congress in Cartagena. The company argues that as digital threats become more sophisticated through automation, organizations must use AI to identify anomalous behaviors and accelerate incident responses, integrating security directly into the design of digital infrastructure.
