Artificial intelligence integrates into consumer shopping and daily routines

Artificial intelligence is increasingly integrating into daily consumer habits, moving from simple recommendations to active participation in the purchasing process. According to a report by PYMNTS Intelligence, approximately 132 million adults in the United States have already purchased products with the assistance of AI. Projections suggest that by 2030, more than 300 million people could utilize AI agents to manage shopping and payments.

This shift marks a transition from traditional search engines and marketplaces to AI agents that can select products, compare features, evaluate prices, and potentially complete transactions on behalf of the user. Currently, 22% of consumers begin their product searches directly within AI tools. This evolution forces brands to compete not just for visibility, but for selection by automated systems they do not control.

Furthermore, AI has become an invisible part of daily life. A Gallup study in the United States found that 99% of adults used at least one AI-driven product—such as virtual assistants, maps, or streaming services—within a single week. Notably, 64% of users were unaware they were interacting with artificial intelligence, highlighting how deeply these technologies have been normalized through functions like facial recognition, GPS, and predictive text.
