Arts festivals in Ecuador and Mexico announce 2026 calls for proposals

Organizers of several international arts festivals in Latin America have announced calls for proposals and selection updates for their 2026 editions.

In Loja, Ecuador, the Municipal Coordination for the Festival Internacional de Artes Vivas de Loja (Fiavl) has completed the selection of 31 local artistic projects from 99 applications. These projects, covering literature, visual arts, performing arts, and music, will join a program featuring national and international artists scheduled for November 12–22, 2026. Additionally, a call remains open for gastronomic entrepreneurs, including restaurants and food trucks, to participate in the Plaza de la Gastronomía at San Francisco square.

In Mexico, authorities in Chihuahua have opened applications for the Festival Internacional del Estado de Chihuahua (FICH) and the Festival Internacional de la Ciudad de Chihuahua (FICUU) 2026. Scheduled for October 1–18 in Chihuahua and Ciudad Juárez, the festivals are seeking local talent in music, dance, theater, visual arts, and cinema. Selected individual and group projects will be eligible for economic incentives, including 10,000 pesos for individual performers and 20,000 pesos for groups or film projects.
