Karol Nawrocki’s alleged campaign poisoning prompts prosecutor investigation

During his 2025 presidential campaign, Karol Nawrocki reported a sudden collapse, loss of consciousness and violent vomiting after a rally in Ząbkowice Śląskie and Dzierżoniow. In a later interview for the book *Skąd się wziął Karol Nawrocki?* he described the episode as a “moment of terror” and suggested he may have been poisoned. The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Świdnica opened a checking procedure on 15 May 2025 to examine the “suspected danger to life or health” of the president during the campaign.

Vice‑minister of the Interior Czesław Mroczek called the incident “serious” and urged the authorities to clarify whether any protection measures were lacking. Government spokesperson Adam Szłapka said the President’s safety is now handled by the State Protection Service, not party staff. Police later stated that no criminal act was identified, but the investigation remains pending. The episode has sparked public debate over security at political events and the transparency of the president’s health disclosures.
