Aruba Minister Gerlien Croes faces 48-hour demand over private jet dispute

Aruban MEP parliamentarians Evelyn Wever-Croes and Rocco Tjon have issued a 48-hour demand to Minister Gerlien Croes for a decision regarding a private-jet dispute. The lawmakers claim the legal deadline for a new decision concerning their objection to information regarding a November 2025 private-jet trip has expired.

The dispute centers on requests for documentary proof regarding the payment and facilitation of a private jet flight used by the minister to travel to Curaçao during an official function. While the minister has suggested that Parliament is attempting to monitor her personal salary and private expenses, critics argue the central issue is the duty of a cabinet member to account for travel facilitated within an official capacity.

According to the parliamentarians, the Administrative Jurisprudence (LAR) Advisory Committee had sent its advice to the minister, after which she had six weeks to issue a decision. They contend that under Article 20 of Aruba’s Landsverordening administratieve rechtspraak (LAR), the requested documents and the committee’s advice must be provided without delay.
