Arunachal Pradesh Governor Orders Probe into NERIST Incident

Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik met Home Minister Mama Natung on June 24 in Itanagar to review the law‑and‑order situation in Arunachal Pradesh. The discussion focused on a recent incident at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) in Nirjuli.

The governor expressed deep concern, describing the episode as a threat to the institute’s safety and reputation, and demanded an impartial investigation into allegations that certain groups had intimidated and forced staff or students. He emphasised that educational institutions must remain secure, transparent and accountable. The Home Minister assured that the case will be investigated thoroughly and that appropriate action will be taken against anyone found guilty.
