Arunachal Pradesh disasters leave five Army personnel missing and four dead
Heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh has triggered two major disasters, resulting in multiple casualties and missing persons.
In the Dibang Valley district, a cloudburst and subsequent flash flood struck the Pasu Pani Army Camp of the 5th Grenadier. The flood swept away two shelters and seven Army personnel. While two soldiers have been rescued, five remain missing, identified as Havaldar Upendar and personnel Kundan, Vinod, Aditya, and Samunda. Search and rescue operations involve the 5th Grenadier, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF), Arunachal Pradesh Police, and local volunteers, supported by Army aviation assets.
Separately, in the Upper Subansiri district, a massive landslide occurred at the Keojaring-Byaching road construction site. The incident killed four workers, identified as Tadu Baki, Taji Rai, Markosh Basumatari, and Babul Ali. The body of Babul Ali has been recovered. Rescue efforts are being conducted by the Nacho Police Station, Fire and Emergency Services from Daporijo, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
