Arunachal Pradesh Police rescue 34 children in trafficking probe

Arunachal Pradesh Police have rescued 38 people, including 34 children, as part of an ongoing investigation into a suspected human trafficking and illegal placement network. The victims were recovered from various locations across Arunachal Pradesh, including Aalo, Mechuka, Pasighat, Naharlagun, Itanagar, and Longding, as well as from parts of Assam.

Authorities have arrested four alleged facilitators in connection with the case. The most recent arrest involved Rupali Padung, who is suspected of involvement in the transportation and illegal placement of the victims. This follows a previous operation in August where 19 children were rescued and three women were arrested.

The investigation, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Kengo Dirchi under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Sangey Thinley, is currently examining financial transactions, electronic evidence, and secondary links within the network. Investigators are also questioning parents, guardians, and individuals with whom the victims were allegedly placed. The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) are providing care, counseling, and rehabilitation for the rescued children.
