Italy postpones Euro 5 diesel vehicle ban in Padan Basin

The Italian government has approved a decree to postpone the ban on Euro 5 diesel vehicles in the Padan Basin. This measure aims to protect workers and families facing economic difficulties who cannot afford to upgrade their vehicles.

Previously, restrictions were set to impact major municipalities in Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, and Emilia-Romagna. Under the new decision, the ban for these regions has been delayed until October 1, 2026, and will only apply to municipalities with populations exceeding 100,000 inhabitants. Additionally, regional authorities are granted the option to avoid the ban by implementing specific anti-pollution measures.
