Arvedi Ast plant in Terni to begin new slag ramp operations

The Umbria Region has received formal notification regarding the commencement of activities for the new slag ramp at the Arvedi Ast plant in Terni. Following preliminary dry testing, the hot commissioning phase began on September 1, 2026.

Full operational commissioning is scheduled to start on October 1, 2026, with a progressive increase in the volume of treated slag. Due to the innovative nature of the installation, Tapojärvi Italia S. r. l. has requested a six-month period to gradually reach full capacity to ensure the system performs correctly under various load configurations.

This new system is central to a transition plan designed to transfer all white slag treatment activities from the ACC department to the new facility. As the new ramp becomes operational, the use of the old wet cooling process and the associated temporary storage at the ‘Collina’ area will be phased out, with those activities expected to cease entirely within twelve months.
