Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak to face in 2026 Democracy Cup

Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak are set to face each other in the third edition of the Democracy Cup on August 28 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The match commemorates the 32nd anniversary of parliamentary democracy under Ghana's Fourth Republic.

In addition to the main football fixture, the event will feature a curtain-raiser match between Members of Parliament and the Executive at 1:00 pm. The Democracy Cup was established by Parliament to promote civic participation and bridge the gap between legislators and citizens through football.

Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler expressed his determination to secure a victory for the home fans. The winner of this ceremonial fixture will earn the opportunity to play against the English Premier League side Sunderland in the United Kingdom.
