Asante Kotoko in talks with Costa Papic for head coach role

Asante Kotoko is reportedly in discussions with Serbian coach Costa Papic to fill the vacant head coach position. The club's Director of Football, Stanley Purl Menzo, is said to be communicating with representatives of the tactician.

Papic is a well-known figure in Ghanaian football, having previously managed Kotoko's primary rivals, Hearts of Oak, during two separate stints. His familiarity with the Ghana Premier League makes him a notable candidate as the club seeks to stabilize its technical direction.

The search for a permanent manager follows the departure of Eric Tinkler, who left the club in September 2026 for personal reasons. Since Tinkler's exit, assistant coach Hamza Obeng has been managing the first team on an interim basis. Kotoko has had an inconsistent start to the 2026/2027 season, currently sitting eighth in the league standings after seven matches.
