Asantehene appoints Mamponghene to oversee Asanteman

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has appointed the Asante Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, to oversee the administration of Asanteman during his upcoming travels.

During an appearance before the Kumasi Traditional Council on Monday, 17 August, Otumfuo announced a two-week trip to the United States. Following his return from the U.S., the Asantehene also disclosed plans to take a one-month leave of absence before resuming official duties.

The Mamponghene will be responsible for coordinating the affairs of Asanteman during this period. This transition occurs as the Kumasi Traditional Council continues to manage various traditional matters, including ongoing land and stool disputes within the Asante traditional area.
