Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II conducts working visit to the United States

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, is conducting a two-week working visit to the United States, engaging in cultural, educational, and diplomatic activities. During his trip, the King and his wife, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, visited the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., to explore its collection of rare biblical artifacts and manuscripts.

The visit included significant cultural and academic engagements, such as an Akwasidae Kese celebration at Bowie State University in Maryland and a royal lecture at Howard University. At Howard, the Asantehene addressed the theme of “Governance, Culture and Diaspora,” arguing that African culture must be integrated into serious discussions regarding development and governance rather than being relegated to mere entertainment.

The Asante delegation's itinerary also involved discussions with business and institutional stakeholders to explore partnerships and investment opportunities. The visit highlighted the role of traditional African leadership in fostering international relations and strengthening ties between the continent and its diaspora.
