Ascoli Piceno gears up for June 20 Palio degli Arcieri showdown
The 33rd Palio degli Arcieri, a key event of the Quintana festival in Ascoli Piceno, will take place on Saturday, 20 June at 21:00 in the Campo dei Giochi “Squarcia”. The competition is free to the public. Teams from the city’s districts have been preparing intensively; Giuliano Scancella, head of the Porta Romana archers, highlighted the group’s unity and concentration as vital for success. The event’s banner was crafted by young members of the local association L’Orto di Paolo, which works with autistic youths, underscoring the festival’s inclusive focus. Municipal officials, including assessors Massimiliano Brugni and Giovanni Silvestri, expressed strong support, noting the high attendance at past archery matches and the social benefits of involving vulnerable groups. The Palio marks the opening of the Quintana season and will be accompanied by the launch of a “FantaQuintana” app for fans.
