Asda completes electronic shelf label rollout across convenience stores

Asda has completed the rollout of electronic shelf-edge labels (eSELs) across its entire estate of Express convenience stores, petrol stations, and Asda Express locations. The deployment involves over 1,200 digital labels installed in partnership with Vusion, Renovotec, and HL Display.

The technology replaces the manual process of updating more than 120,000 paper price tickets every week. According to Asda, the transition is intended to free up staff time for customer service, improve product availability, and maintain higher store standards. The new 2.6-inch Vusion labels provide higher-quality screens to improve readability for both employees and shoppers, who can also access enhanced ingredient and allergen information.

In addition to the label rollout, Asda is currently testing shelf-edge availability cameras in five larger main estate stores. These cameras are designed to monitor stock levels, identify gaps, and detect misplaced products ahead of a planned wider launch.
