Asda product recall phthalates DEHP chemical risk

Asda has issued a recall for three types of women’s handbags due to a “serious chemical risk.” The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) reported that the items contain excessive concentrations of Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP).

Phthalates are chemicals used to soften plastics, but they can harm children's health and potentially cause damage to the reproductive system. The recalled products do not meet the requirements of REACH Regulations.

The affected items are: • Front Pocket Xbody Bag (Product code: 1100258937001) • Opp Tote Bag (Product code: 1100260834001) • Black Nylon Phone Bag (Product code: 1100258939001)

Consumers are advised to stop using the products immediately and return them to any Asda store for a full refund without a receipt.
