ASEAN Law Forum 2026 to address AI in legislation

The ASEAN Law Forum 2026 is scheduled to take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, from August 18 to 19. Organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice, the forum will focus on the theme “Applications of artificial intelligence in legislation and law enforcement in the digital age.”

The event is expected to host approximately 150 delegates, including government leaders, representatives from ASEAN member states' ministries of justice, and international experts. Discussions will center on how AI can improve policy planning, facilitate access to legal information, and support the development of a national legal information portal.

Nguyen Thanh Tinh, Vice Minister of Justice, noted that while AI serves as a driver for growth and transformation within ASEAN, the region faces varying levels of digital infrastructure and development among its member states. The forum aims to share best practices, enhance the digital capabilities of officials, and establish a modern legal framework to address digital-era challenges.
