Aselsan and Roketsan advance Turkish defense capabilities

Turkish defense companies Aselsan and Roketsan have announced successful tests of new military technologies designed to enhance air combat and defense capabilities.

Aselsan successfully tested the KGK-84 winged guidance system, which can be integrated with 2,000-pound free-fall bombs to convert them into long-range smart air-to-ground munitions. Launched from an F-16 fighter jet during a qualification test in Sinop, the system utilizes foldable wings to glide toward targets, reaching distances of up to 100 kilometers. This allows aircraft to strike targets from safe distances without entering enemy air defense range. The system features an anti-jamming CRPA antenna to resist electronic warfare and GNSS interference.

Separately, the Siper-2 long-range air defense and missile system demonstrated high operational flexibility during recent testing. According to Haluk Görgün, head of the Presidency of Defense Industries, the system successfully intercepted a target and then adjusted its trajectory mid-flight to engage a second target with updated data. The tests included engagements against sea-skimming targets and demonstrated successful guidance during both mid-course and terminal phases.
