The Hindu calendar marks Ashadh Amavasya 2026 on the evening of 13 July, with the main observance on 14 July. This year the new‑moon coincides with both Monday (Somvati) and Tuesday (Bhumavati), a rare alignment that is considered especially auspicious.

Devotees are advised to perform early‑morning bathing (starting around 04:30 IST), followed by rituals such as pitr‑tarpan, offering of copper‑vessels filled with water, sesame seeds and milk, and charitable donations of food, clothing or money.
