Ashanti Region NSMQ 2026 Qualifiers See 98 Schools Compete for National Spots

The Ashanti Region of Ghana will host the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) regional qualifiers, with 98 senior high schools contesting across 21 matches for places at the national championship. Traditional powerhouses such as Kumasi Academy, KNUST SHS, Kumasi High School, St. Louis SHS and Yaa Asantewaa Girls' SHS are among the entrants, each aiming to recover after missing automatic qualification last year. The region, long recognised as a stronghold of the competition, regularly produces national winners, and organisers anticipate tightly contested bouts and possible upsets as both established and emerging schools vie for qualification.

The qualifiers are scheduled for late July to early August 2026, drawing significant local attention as one of Ghana’s most closely watched educational events.
