Ashikaga City proposes 1.88 billion yen budget for heavy rain recovery

Ashikaga City has submitted a supplementary budget proposal of approximately 1.88 billion yen to the city council to address damage caused by heavy rainfall in July. The funds are primarily allocated for disaster recovery, including 1.62 billion yen for repairing roads, rivers, agricultural facilities, forest roads, parks, and farmland.

The budget includes 170 million yen for emergency repair subsidies for households that suffered significant damage, such as total or partial destruction and flooding. Additionally, 67.4 million yen is designated for disaster waste disposal, and 21.4 million yen will be provided as condolence and sympathy payments for victims of the storm.

In response to the July heavy rains, the city recorded one total destruction, 176 partial destructions, and 35 cases of floor flooding. To assist residents in rebuilding their lives, the city is also offering disaster relief loans to affected households, with applications open until October 30.
