Ashley Paul Griffith extradited to NSW for child abuse charges
Ashley Paul Griffith, 48, has been extradited from Queensland to New South Wales to face hundreds of additional child sexual offence charges. Griffith is currently serving a life sentence in Queensland after pleading guilty to 307 offences against nearly 70 victims committed while working at childcare centres.
In New South Wales, Griffith faces 202 additional charges related to offences allegedly committed against 23 girls, some as young as 10, at a Sydney childcare centre between 2014 and 2017. The charges include indecent assault and the production of child abuse material.
Queensland Corrections Minister Laura Gerber confirmed the transfer, noting that Griffith was transported by road from a maximum security prison. Griffith will remain in custody in NSW pending trial and will serve his sentence in whichever state imposes the longest term.
