Ashly Herrera wins Nicaragua’s first gold at CODICADER 2026

Ashly Jael Herrera Espinoza has secured Nicaragua’s first gold medal at the XXII CODICADER 2026 Central American Student Games currently being held in Honduras. Competing in the +70 kg judo category, the athlete from the Instituto Nacional Felipe Urrutia de Estelí became the first regional champion for her country in this edition of the games.

Nicaragua also saw success in the judo competition through other podium finishes. Sharon Elizabeth García Narváez earned a silver medal in the -48 kg category, while Seydi Selena Rivera López took bronze in the -57 kg category.
