Asia-Pacific silver economy projected to reach US$7.1 trillion by 2030
A new report by Ageing Asia and Singapore Management University estimates that by 2030, 14 Asia-Pacific markets will have 733 million people aged 60 and above, representing US$7.1 trillion in savings.
The report, titled ‘Asia Pacific Silver Economy Business Opportunities 2026-2030: Building the longevity ecosystem’, distinguishes between two distinct markets. The first is the ‘care economy’, which focuses on healthcare, home care, and dementia services for those aged 75 and older.
The second is the ‘consumer economy’, which targets the 60-to-75-year-old demographic. This group is identified as having the time, health, and financial resources to drive spending in sectors such as travel, tourism, wellness, lifestyle, and experiential services.
