Global silver economy growth and market potential

Recent reports highlight the significant economic potential of the silver economy across Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region due to aging populations.

In Latin America, the market is estimated to have a 2 trillion dollar potential. A study titled ‘Map of Silver Economy and Longevity Innovators’ indicates that if the population over 50 were a single country, it would be the third-largest economy globally. Brazil leads the region in innovation, followed by Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay. The care sector currently serves as the primary market driver, though gaps remain between demographic shifts and available solutions.

In the Asia-Pacific region, projections suggest the silver economy could reach US$7.1 trillion by 2030. A report by Ageing Asia and Singapore Management University estimates that 14 markets in the region will contain 733 million people aged 60 and above. This market is divided into a ‘care economy’ for those aged 75 and older, focusing on healthcare and dementia services, and a ‘consumer economy’ for the 60-to-75-year-old demographic, which drives spending in travel, wellness, and lifestyle sectors.
