Asian Film Festival Barcelona announces 14th edition lineup

The 14th edition of the Asian Film Festival Barcelona (AFFBCN), organized by Casa Asia, will take place from October 22 to November 1. The festival will feature over one hundred films from 25 countries across the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on independent, experimental, and auteur cinema produced primarily between 2025 and 2026.

This edition places a significant emphasis on Indian cinema, coinciding with the 2026 Spain-India Dual Year. The programming includes a ‘Focus India’ section featuring twelve recent independent productions, alongside a retrospective of films about India made by Western filmmakers between 1946 and 2023. The festival aims to provide a platform for cinematographies that often lack commercial distribution in Spain.

The selection covers diverse regions, including Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia, with specific attention to emerging film industries in countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Cambodia, as well as established film industries like China, South Korea, Japan, and Iran.
