ASICS study finds Poles inactive for 85% of waking hours
A study by ASICS reveals that people in Poland are inactive for 85% of their waking hours. To address this, the company has launched The Movement Conservation Project, which introduces the world’s first Movement Conservation Status. This system classifies physical activity levels as Active, At Risk, or Endangered, based on international health recommendations.
In Poland, 56% of the population is currently classified as At Risk or Endangered. Projections suggest this figure could rise to 60%—approximately 19 million adults—by 2035 if current trends continue. The study highlights a significant link between physical activity and mental well-being; individuals in the Endangered category reported a State of Mind score of 61/100, compared to 73/100 for those in the Active group.
Younger populations are particularly vulnerable. Approximately 55% of Poles aged 18-24 do not meet recommended activity levels, and 21% fall into the Endangered category, exercising less than 30 minutes per week. This demographic also recorded the lowest average State of Mind score at 60/100.
