Asklepios Klinikum Harburg opens new parent-child therapy center

The Asklepios Klinikum Harburg has opened a new therapy center in Hamburg designed to treat mentally ill parents and their children together under one roof. Spanning over 3,300 square meters, the facility provides 40 inpatient and outpatient treatment slots for families with children from birth to age ten.

This expansion allows for the simultaneous treatment of up to 20 families, ensuring that parents and children do not have to be separated during their care. The center features three wards: two dedicated to families with children aged zero to six, and one for children aged seven to ten, supplemented by a day clinic for five additional families. The facility is managed through a joint leadership model between adult psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry.

The construction was funded by the Hamburg Authority for Health, Social Affairs and Integration with a total investment of 13.44 million euros.
