Asklepios Klinikum Harburg parent-child therapy expansion

Overview

The Asklepios Klinikum Harburg in Hamburg has established a new parent and child therapy center to treat mentally ill parents and their children simultaneously. Funded by a 13.44 million euro investment from the Hamburg Authority for Health, Social Affairs and Integration, the 3,300-square-meter facility provides integrated care for families with children aged zero to ten.

The center offers 40 inpatient and outpatient treatment slots, allowing up to 20 families to receive care without being separated. The facility is organized into three wards—two for children aged zero to six and one for children aged seven to ten—alongside a day clinic for five additional families. The center operates under a joint leadership model combining adult psychiatry with child and adolescent psychiatry.
