Asobi: Remote Play app enters playtest for Steam Deck and Linux
Developer Inside Internet is testing a new independent application called ‘Asobi: Remote Play’ designed to bring PlayStation games to the Steam Deck and other Linux-based devices. The app offers two primary methods of play: traditional remote play, which requires a local PS4 or PS5 console to stream content over a network, and optional cloud streaming.
The cloud streaming feature allows users to access the PlayStation Plus Premium catalog directly from Sony’s servers without needing a physical console. This functionality requires a valid PlayStation Network account and an active PS Plus Premium subscription. Developers are reportedly working to expand compatibility to include other purchased digital titles in the future.
Currently, the application is in a public playtest phase on Steam. During this period, advanced features such as 4K/60fps streaming, HDR, and haptic feedback support are available for free. Once the official release occurs, the free version is expected to be limited to 1080p at 30fps in SDR, with advanced features requiring a one-time in-app purchase.
