Aspon Dedi re-elected as PWI leader for Payakumbuh-Limapuluh Kota

Aspon Dedi, also known as Popon, has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) for the Payakumbuh and Lima Puluh Kota regions for the 2026–2029 period.

During the PWI Conference held at the Payakumbuh City Hall on Sunday, September 27, 2026, Dedi secured 13 votes out of a total of 20 valid votes. His opponent, Syamsir Wandi, received 7 votes. The election process included three initial candidates, though one candidate, Syafri Ario, withdrew during the plenary session regarding vision and mission statements.

The conference was attended by officials from the West Sumatra Provincial PWI, including the Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Honor Council. The election results were met with support from members, particularly younger journalists, who expressed hope for his continued leadership.
