Assam BJP holds Jan Jagaran rally against Congress over electoral rolls
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a statewide ‘Jan Jagaran’ procession in Guwahati, Assam, to protest against the Congress party and the INDIA bloc. The rally was held in response to the opposition's stance against the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
During the demonstration at Khanapara, Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia accused opposition parties of attempting to create political instability by opposing the revision exercise. He stated that participants, including youth and civil society members, were standing up for national interests against what he described as the Congress's political agenda.
BJP MLA Manab Deka also addressed the gathering, criticizing the Congress for questioning electoral processes only when facing defeats. Deka compared the party's behavior to a child blaming the ground after falling, noting that the opposition does not raise similar concerns regarding electoral outcomes in states where they have won, such as Karnataka, Telangana, and Kerala.
