Assam Police seize Yaba tablets worth Rs 60 lakh in Hailakandi

Assam Police seized a large consignment of suspected Yaba tablets in the Hailakandi district. The operation, part of an intensified crackdown on narcotic trafficking in the region, resulted in the recovery of 816.9 grams of the synthetic drug, which contains methamphetamine and caffeine.

Two individuals, identified as Baharul Alam Majumdar and Chayekh Hussain Laskar, were arrested during the interception. The street value of the seized contraband is estimated to be approximately Rs 60 lakh.

Authorities have registered a case and are investigating the origin of the drugs and the potential involvement of a larger inter-state narcotics trafficking network. Police are also examining financial trails and questioning the suspects to identify the intended recipients and the supply chain.
