Assam Rifles patrol ambushed near India-Myanmar border
An Assam Rifles patrol was ambushed near the India-Myanmar border in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday morning. The attack occurred around 6:30 AM in the Nampong area while security forces were conducting regular patrols and fencing work along the border.
One personnel, 42-year-old Havildar Jankho Kai Kukui, was killed in the incident, and four other soldiers sustained injuries. The injured personnel have been hospitalized for treatment.
The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K-YA) and the Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) issued a joint statement claiming responsibility for the attack against the 21 Assam Rifles personnel stationed in the area. Following the ambush, security forces and district police launched a large-scale search operation in the surrounding forests to locate the attackers. Security agencies in the northeastern border regions have been placed on high alert due to the sensitivity of the area and the movement of insurgent groups across the international border.
