Assam Rifles seize narcotics worth millions in Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh

The Assam Rifles, in coordination with Kanchanpur Police, seized 9,500 Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 38 lakh in the Kanchanpur area of North Tripura. The operation, conducted on August 31 following intelligence reports, resulted in the apprehension of one individual and the seizure of a motorcycle used for transporting the contraband. The items and the suspect have been handed over to local police for investigation.

In a separate operation on August 28 in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, the Assam Rifles seized 130 grams of heroin worth approximately Rs 24 lakh. During this incident in the Nampong area, two individuals identified as illegal Myanmar nationals were apprehended. These actions are part of ongoing efforts by security forces to curb trans-border narcotics smuggling and illegal infiltration in the Northeast region.
