Security forces report militant ambush in Arunachal and terrorist killing in Kashmir

Security forces in India reported two separate militant incidents on Tuesday. In Arunachal Pradesh, an Assam Rifles patrol party was ambushed near the India-Myanmar border in the Changlang district. The attack, which occurred near Nampong Nallah in an area where border fencing is being constructed, resulted in the death of Havildar Jangkhokai Kuki and left four other personnel injured. Preliminary reports suggest the ambush may have been carried out by the NSCN-K-YA insurgent group.

In central Kashmir, a joint operation by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF led to the neutralization of a high-profile Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist in the Budgam district. The individual, identified as Sulaiman Shah (alias Musa) or Mohammad Asif (alias Hashim Moosa), was killed during an encounter in the Yousmarg/Dudhpathri forest area. Security officials noted that the deceased was a wanted operative involved in previous attacks, including the 2025 Pahalgam incident, and had previously served as a para-commando in Pakistan’s Special Service Group.
