Assetto Corsa EVO to launch Free Roam mode in December
Kunos Simulazioni and 505 Games have announced that the Free Roam mode for Assetto Corsa EVO will launch on December 9, 2026, as part of the v0.10 update. The announcement was made during the SimRacing Expo in Frankfurt.
The update will introduce an initial 70 km² area in the Eifel region of Germany, centered around the Nürburgring. This open-world feature is intended to expand the simulator's scope beyond traditional track racing. Developers noted that while the initial launch area is significant, the map is planned to eventually expand to 1,600 km².
Technical changes in the v0.10 update include the use of LiDAR technology for terrain construction, a complete overhaul of the racing AI, and the removal of the in-game economy. The studio explained the release timing as a necessity to ensure stability, as they prefer delivering substantial, tested builds over frequent small patches.
